Do you think Israel is more like the Middle East, Europe, or the United StatesThere is high variability regarding the perception of Israel in comparison to other regions.

 

 

  • The perception of Israel as a Middle Eastern entity increases with age (from 21% among 18-24 years old to 38% among 65+ years old), while the similarity to the USA decreases with age (from 24% to 12%, respectively).
  • Similarity to Europe declines with education.
  • Similarity to the Middle East decreases with Jewish religiousness (from 38% among secular to 12% among Ultra-Orthodox).

I will now read you a list of countries, and please tell me which one of them, in your opinion, has the most antisemitism, which is in the second place, and which is in the third place (item presented in random order)

 

 

 

 

 

 

When asked specifically about 4 countries (a ranking task), 70% ranked 3 countries, as asked, 15% could only rank 1-2 countries, and 16% didn’t rank at all.  France and Poland were mentioned in high, equal rates.  Germany was third by a large gap, and Holland was last.

  • Ranking was not affected by Jewish religiousness, but among Arabs, as religiousness increases, the ability to rank decreases.
  • Ranking Germany in the 1st place is somewhat higher among 25-44 years old (20-23%); ranking of France in any place increases with age; ranking of Poland in the 1st place increases with age.
  • Ranking Germany in the 1st place is highest among Ultra-Orthodox Jews (36%);  ranking of France in the 1st place is highest among religious and traditional Jews (44-48%), and ranking of Poland in the 1st place is highest among secular Jews (42%).

Most respondents view the EU as a success, and very few – as a failure.

About 1/2 feel that ties should be maintained with far-right wing EU parties, and only about 1/4 think they should be severed.
